Through the research conducted in the last five years at Quintosapore, the Biomimic Farming Institute has been testing a unique blend of:

• Heirloom Seed bank and self production of seeds and plants
• Regenerative, biodynamic, permaculture and synthropic practices
• Biochar
• Quantum Based Farming
• Agroforestry
• Effective Microorganisms

The Institute is helping to demonstrate that a non-dogmatic approach to farming solutions is more scalable, financially viable, adaptable to different sizes of farms and inclusive. We focus on data driven results, to measure indices such as soil organic carbon, water-holding capacity, nutrients and biodiversity, in order to create a codified playbook and standardized seed/EM/biochar protocols with a proven governance model.

ADVOCACY FOR REGENERATING FARMING SOLUTIONS

There is an increasing need to bring the real food and farming movement together — and to build meaningful collaborations between farmers and researchers, in order to share knowledge and join up different initiatives in the regenerative farming space.

The Quintosapore farm’s testing laboratory has helped to reveal lack of harmony between Nature and the overly bureaucratic “sustainable” labels which often get attached to farming — such as ‘organic’. Nature is a highly dynamic and extremely intricate system, whose rules and solutions are constantly shifting and evolving. Nature rarely complies with regulations. Nature thrives best not when you try to enforce rules to it — but when you listen and learn.

The Biomimic Farming Institute work endeavours to listen. We strive to evolve and promote a dynamic, resilient and kind farming methodology. Nature’s ”tool box”. By attempting to 'mimic' Nature, the Institute encourages an agile, highly adaptable and compassionate approach to growing soil, agriculture and community.

We have knowledge partners like Slow Food Italia and Navdanya International to help exchange regenerative farming techniques, while avoiding cumbersome, standardized labels and guidelines. Our annual HUMUS gathering convenes farmers, philosophers, artists and investors from around the world to share lessons and explore connections between soil, humanity and soul.

EDUCATION FOR BIOMIMIC AGRICULTURE

We don’t ‘teach’ in the dogmatic sense. We try to pass on what we have learned from Nature — and from brilliant farmers we have been fortunate enough to work alongside.

We hold classes at the Quintosapore for both Italian and International students — young and old — and we partner with farmers from around the world.
